Mural da História Comum
Mural da História Comum (Mural of Shared History) is an installation by the Companhia de Música Teatral and one of the "stars" of the A Liberdade a Passar Por Aqui constellation. CMT has a very unique way of creating: projects are rarely limited to a single language. They are, at the same time, a show, an installation, a book, training, and often all of these in parallel, or in sequence, in a process as complex as it is fertile. It is confusing, yes, but it is also deeply rich, and following this movement, both from the inside and the outside, is a rare privilege.
This installation, in particular, was born from many hands and many voices. Some parts had to be prepared in advance, such as the electronic interactions present in objects such as the Anti‑Censório and the Relator. But much of what you see in the video below was born out of a series of workshops led by the wonderful Mafalda Milhões, where I was fortunate enough to collaborate. At these meetings, Freedom was discussed from every possible angle, and its relationship with the history of Portugal and the experience of living in community was explored, both audibly and visually.
I consider this small installation to be both the most "charged" and "light" space I have had the pleasure of helping to build.
