Cartografia Sonora Imaginária

Cartografia Sonora Imaginária is, by nature, a difficult project to define. At first glance, it appears to be a show that premiered in September 2025 at Casa das Artes in Vila Nova de Famalicão: a fusion of video and live music that was not exactly the "soundtrack" of a film, nor an exercise in reactive images, but something that inhabited the space in between.

The show proposed a journey through the memories of the two artists on stage, traversing the essence of Companhia de Música Teatral and echoes of brief but memorable encounters with Alberto Manguel.

But this Cartography was not born there, nor does it end on stage. Its journey began years earlier, in small improvised performances: from a storage cupboard in a museum, in a café where a video filmed by a friend aboard an icebreaker was set to music, on a trip to Japan, during a week of experiences in a planetarium, and even in a failed dream involving an inflatable planetarium.

Among the projects I have carried out with the Companhia de Música Teatral, this is one of the ones that touches me most on a personal and artistic level, and perhaps that is why I lack the necessary distance to describe it fully.
